
Life Span partnered with Strengthening Chicago’s Youth (SCY) to explore the intersectionality of gun-related harm and domestic violence, and how that junction impacts individuals and whole communities. This event brought together violence prevention partners, practitioners, survivors, and community leaders to survey this powerful connection.
Life Span Attorneys and Counselors described the increase of lethality in domestic violence situations where guns are present and challenged the audience to put themselves in the shoes of survivors through case scenarios. Additional speakers included representatives from Speakers included folks from Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Institute for Healthy Communities. The day centered around educating the audience on how legal protections and procedures can be used as vital tools to help survivors secure safety and rebuild their lives. Most importantly, participants left with practical, community-focused strategies to prevent future violence and create safer environments for everyone
